Some service jobs are easier for the owner—and safer for the boat—when a technician can reach it at the lift. Make Wake uses a converted pontoon as a work barge for selected locations and suitable repairs, bringing a stable platform, tools and access alongside the vessel.
The barge is intended for protected water. It is not an offshore or rough-water service boat, and availability depends on wind, wake exposure, depth, bridge clearance, dock access and a safe place to secure the platform. A location that looks calm in a photograph may not be workable under the day's conditions.
The repair scope matters too. Inspections, certain maintenance items and accessible minor repairs may be candidates. Work requiring heavy lifting, controlled cleanliness, extensive diagnostics or shop equipment is usually better completed at the dealership. The technician must be able to work without placing people under a suspended boat or compromising the lift.
Customers can help by providing the address, boat and lift details, photographs of water access and a clear description of the problem. The team can then decide whether barge service is practical or whether pickup, delivery or shop service will produce a safer and more efficient repair.
