Electronics perform best with clean power and careful transducer placement. A coordinated installation is usually more reliable than adding devices one at a time without a system plan.
Start with a simple power map showing each battery, switch, fuse, charger and major load. Trolling motors, livewell pumps, stereos, radar and modern multifunction displays can create demands that were never anticipated in an older boat. Voltage drop and poor grounds often appear as intermittent equipment problems rather than obvious wiring failures.
Transducer placement should account for hull shape, strakes, engines and the water flow at cruising speed. Test the finished system on Mobile Bay or comparable water so sonar performance, charging and network communication can be checked under real operating conditions.
