On February 23, 2023, Make Wake assisted a made-for-television production filming on the Gulf Coast. The work involved preparing and supporting a pontoon used around the set, coordinating access at the dock and helping the production keep its on-water scenes moving.
Film work asks different things of a boat than an ordinary family outing. Camera positions, crew movement, repeated takes and tight timing all affect loading and operation. The boat still has to be treated as a boat first: capacity, balance, safe boarding, weather and the operator's field of view remain important even when the camera is rolling.
Andy worked alongside John Rottger, a former Navy SEAL with extensive experience in water and boat operations for film and television. Rottger's screen career includes work on productions such as Under Siege, I Am Number Four and Furious 7. His combination of operational judgment and production experience helped the crew approach the on-water work safely and efficiently.
The production was directed by actor and director Mykelti Williamson. Original photographs from February 23, 2023 show the camera rig, crew, cast activity and Make Wake family members alongside Williamson.
For Make Wake, the memorable part was seeing local marine experience support a completely different kind of Gulf Coast project. It was not a sales event; it was a practical job that depended on preparation, cooperation and adapting familiar equipment to an unusual working day.
